Final Media Statement 23rd Ministerial Meeting of the GECF

HE FRANKLIN MOLINA ORTIZ
MINISTER OF HYDROCARBONS AND ENERGIES
PLURINATIONAL STATE OF BOLIVIA

"This year, the Plurinational State of Bolivia is hosting the 23rd Meeting of Ministers of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF), a space for dialogue and exchange of ideas to strengthen the bonds of integration in order to generate joint actions that allow better use, exploitation, sustainable, efficient and environmentally conscious conservation of natural gas resources for the benefit of the member nations of this organisation.

These objectives will be developed through the exchange of experiences, opinions, information and coordination during this Ministerial Meeting, which will be held virtually, taking care of the health of each of the members but giving continuity to the important work entrusted".

HE YURY SENTYURIN
GECF SECRETARY GENERAL

"The current fragile situation of the market obviously challenges the universal energy security and necessitates the need to assess the causes of the crunch, its potential implications, as well as outlook for future development of energy markets. It also reveals that the accuracy and precision of energy forecasting and modelling is as important, as it has never been before.
Based on our evidence- and science-based legacy, the GECF has been foretelling the international community on the need to embed natural gas as a part of the solution for economic recovery and sustainable development. However, for that to happen, there needs to be an open discussion on how the inherent clean attributes of gas can be maximised, from investment in new production to research and innovation in new carbon-neutral technologies.
This year, we are delighted to be working under the visionary leadership of the Plurinational State of Bolivia, which chairs the 23rd Ministerial Meeting of our Forum and with no doubt will deliver a constructive debate.”
